The rapture - Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2

The rapture doctrine – Trash or Truth?

1. What about the Marriage Supper of Luke 12:35-46

Lu 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
Lu 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

The Master is at the Marriage feast and the servants not.

Lu 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Not to take them away but have them sit to serve them.

Lu 12:38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

Lu 12:39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

If He is planning to come as a thief in the night, the announcement of His coming with the trumpet will totally give Him away.

Lu 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

It does not read that we must be ready because we will be going in a moment that we don’t anticipate it!

Lu 12:41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

For who is this parable? The Jews, the Church, the rapture expectants!

Lu 12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

The Lord said: IT IS FOR THE FAITHFULL STEWARDS.

Lu 12:43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Lu 12:44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

Doesn’t sound to me if the faithfull stewards got raptured! That’s not a bad deal if you’re faithfull, sounds to me like they stay and rule.

Lu 12:45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

Some servants say the master is late in coming and therefore becomes unfaithfull!

Lu 12:46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

2. What about the Tribulation of Matthew 24?

Matthew 24:3
Mt 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Jesus was talking to His disciples (not unsaved world), He told them what THEY would go through! This is the end of age and not the end of time, it is the end of the Law and a time of Grace and Mercy with Christ.

Matthew 24:5-33

Mt 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mt 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Looks like some will go through a tribulation!
Mt 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mt 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Mt 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Mt 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mt 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Looks like some will go through a tribulation!
Mt 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mt 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Mt 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mt 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Mt 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

Looks like some will go through a tribulation!
Mt 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! Mt 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mt 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Mt 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

It is for the sake of the elect shortened, it means they go THROUGH IT!
Mt 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. Mt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mt 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.
Mt 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
Mt 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mt 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Mt 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mt 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mt 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Mt 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Mt 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

But it doesn’t stop there, this was not written for us!!!!!!!

Mt 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
There was a tribulation for the generation He was speaking to, all that written by Daniel the Prophet and all that Christ spoke of concerning tribulation was fulfilled at 70 A.D.

Daniel 10:1

Da 10:1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

Daniel 12:12

Da 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

John 16:33

Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

NO MORE TRIBULATION – not PRE-; not MID-; not POST-; you have overcome IN CHRIST!

Romans 2:7-10

Ro 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Ro 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Ro 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Ro 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

There will be those who get tribulation! But it was not designed for me though, if you are in Christ and righteous it is not for you.

Dear Leon
I have read all three chapters and agree 100% with you. Specifically regarding Chapter 2, may I add the following link:

http://www.preteristarchive.com/JewishWars/articles/1985_chilton_josephus.html

This book describes the events that occurred in 68-72 after Christ as a fullfillment of the events described by God in Mat 24.

May I also highlight the following:

The Sun, the Moon an the Stars are not physical!! We read that Josef had a dream that the Sun, Moon and eleven Stars were kneeling before him, which he shared with his father and his father was very angry at him saying, do you really expect me and your mother and you brothers to kneel before you?. Thus the sun, moon and stars are referring to leaders, the sun - head or premier or main leader, moon, his second in command so to speak, stars - other less important leaders. And the people of that time knew that (ask Jacob, he knew immediately what Josef's dream meant)

Now Mat 24:29 - Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven.

In 72 AD Nero, under whose leadership the destruction of Jerusalem occurred, committed suicide (the sun was darkened), his second in command, general Titus fled and was never heard off again (the moon shall not give her light) and all the leaders who participated in the destruction were scattered (the stars shall fall from heaven).

The period 68 - 72 AD was indeed the fullfillment of Jesus' prophecy in Mat 24.
