Tuesday prayer & verses (14 04 2009)

Thought for the day

An airline captain hired a new blonde stewardess. The first route they were flying had a stay-over in another city. Upon their arrival, the captain showed the stewardess the best place for airline personnel to eat, shop and stay overnight. The next morning, as the pilot was preparing the crew for the day's route, he noticed the new stewardess was missing. He knew which room she was in at the hotel and called her up wondering what happened to her.

She answered the phone, crying, and said she couldn't get out of her room.

"You can't get out of your room?" the captain asked, "Why not?"

The stewardess replied, "There are only three doors in here," she sobbed, "one is the bathroom, one is the closet, and one has a sign on it that says, 'Do Not Disturb'!"

Have you ever felt you didn't have access to God through the avenue of prayer because there's a "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging on His door? If there's one there, you can be sure God didn't put it there. Access is always available, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." (I John 5:14)

Go ahead, open the door! You'll be glad you did.

Verses

Numbers 23:19

God is not man that he should speak falsely, nor human, that he should change his mind. Is he one to speak and not act, to decree and not fulfill?

Exodus 23:25

"So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

Romans 8:32

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Romans 1:9

For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,

2 Corinthians 9:11

and you will always be rich enough to be generous. Through our action such generosity will issue in thanksgiving to God,

Prayer
Jesus, we crown You the Lord of love! Your love that endured the shameful actions of those You chose to die for. We crown You the Lord of life, for You triumphed over the physical grave and took away the permanence and sting of death for all believers. We crown You the Lord of heaven where You returned to be One with the Father. You’ve promised to return again and take us to be with You where we will dwell eternally with You and all the saints whose sins are cleansed by the blood You shed on the cross of Calvary. Thank You, Jesus! Amen.
